Lloyd Sprowls BREESE Obituary.
Longtime carpenter, mechanic.
Lloyd SPROWLS BREESE, 91, of Claysville, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, in Hillsview Personal Care Home, Claysville.
He was born April 22, 1917, in East Finley Township, a son of Oliver and Laduska (Lola) SPROWLS BREESE. His mother died seven days after his birth. His grandparents, Stockdale and Cora WALLACE SPROWLS, raised him. He was the youngest of five children.
Mr. BREESE attended Jordan and McElree schools.
He worked as a carpenter with his father, Oliver. During World War II, building materials were hard to get and work was slow, and he worked as a mechanic at SPROWLS Garage in Claysville. When the war was over, he went back to work for his father. After his father's death, he continued to build houses. He did electrical wiring, plumbing and masonry work. His talents were limitless. He always kept busy at home fixing motors, engines, cars and tractors. He was truly a jack of all trades.
Mr. BREESE was employed by Jessop Steel of Washington for several years. He maintained its airplane at Washington County Airport. At age 90, he was still working on Gravely tractors and making fine wood pieces. He was a master craftsman.
He also was a Mayflower descendant.
Mr. BREESE had lived in the Village of Pleasant Grove since 1944. He was Christian. He listened to gospel music, radio and TV ministries.
On June 26, 1937, he married Sylvia Louise MOUNTS, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage. Mrs. BREESE died June 23, 2006.
Surviving are three daughters, Cora (husband Baum, deceased) BROWNLEE, Janet (husband Sherman) BROWNLEE of Claysville and Linda BREESE of Washington; 15 grandchildren, Susan (Meade) LACOCK, Lloyd (Kathy) BROWNLEE, Baum E. (Kim) BROWNLEE of Claysville, William (Denise) BROWNLEE of Jackson Center, John Scott (Donna) BROWNLEE of West Alexander, James (Sherri) BROWNLEE, Amy (Joshua) DILLIE, Joseph (Rachael) BROWNLEE, Karen (Mike) EALY, Bryan BROWNLEE of Claysville, Pamela (Don) CARROLL of Washington, Sherman Dean (Shari) BROWNLEE of Queencreek, Ariz., Kenneth BREESE, Tena STEWART of Washington and Cora Louise (Herb) ROBINSON of Sundance, Wyo.; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, in Claysville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Meade LACOCK officiating. Interment was private.
