June Wood Trantham, age 85, of 622 South Haywood Street, Waynesville, formerly of Canton, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Seth C. and Grace Rogers Wood In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Trantham, who died in 1988, and two brothers, Gerald D. and Thomas Seth Wood.
She was a member of Plains United Methodist Church. June retired from Dick Schulman Co. and also owned and operated Old Pressley Sapphire and Gem Mining Co.
She is survived by two daughers, Rose Prince and her husband, Lee, of Lumberton, and Rebecca Lester of Canton; one son, James Wilson "Jim" Trantham and his wife, Pam, of Clyde; four sisters, Lucille Czarnecki and her husband, Steve, of Clyde, Birdie Powell of Canton, Kay Penland of Huntsville, AL, and Linda McCracken and her husband, Alden, of Clemson, SC; three granddaughters, Tara Trantham, Dana Skye Prince and April Lester and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Grace Owens.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael F. Austin officiating. The family will receive friend immediately follow the service.
