Comedian. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was one of television's pioneering comedians who appeard often on Steve Allen's "Tonight Show" in the 1950s. Appearing as country club snob Gordon Hathaway, his catchy greeting "Hi, ho, Steverino!" became widely repeated across America. He was already well-known as an avant-garde comic prior to joining Steve Allen, having appeared regularly on radio, in clubs and on early TV shows. After the Tongiht Show he frequently appeared on TV game shows, in films and as a regular on "The Ann Sothern Show." One of his best-remembered roles was as Sonny Drysdale, the spoiled rich stepson of a banker on The Beverly Hillbillies during the 1962 season for six episodes. In the 1980s and '90s he provided various voices for the "Inspector Gadget" cartoon show and worked nightclubs and television. From 2000 to 2002 he appeared in the HBO comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
