Joseph C Stump, 71, of North Codorus Twp., died at 10:18 a.m. Thursday, November 25, 2004, at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Glendora M. (Broadwater) Stump with whom he celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary on June 25th.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2004, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Viewing will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be Elder Ray Stuber, Elder Merle Sweitzer and Elder Robert Lehigh.
Mr. Stump was born December 16, 1932, in Plymouth, Ind. He was the son of the late Clarence M. and Shella (Rottmiller) Stump.
A life-long dairy farmer, he founded Stump Acres Dairy Farm. He was a Pennsylvania Master Farmer; a member of the Corngrowers Association; the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau; was a past president of the Pennsylvania Raw Milk Association; a member of Ag Choice Farm Credit; the former Agway Energy Committee; and both the National and State Holstein Associations. He was also a member of the Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church. From 1955 to 1957 he served the government as an attendant at the Byberry State Hospital in Philadelphia.
Mr. Stump also leaves his son, Terry G. Stump of York; two daughters, Sherrilynne Stump and Katrina M. Stump, both of York; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte A. Stump of York; five grandchildren, Valerie M. Choi, Kayla L. Hess, Scott W. Stump, Charity E. Stump and Brittany M. Stump; a great-granddaughter, Rayna O. Hess; two brothers, Paul Stump of Englewood, Ohio, and John Stump of Bernville; three sisters, Luella Shuman of Carlisle, Mary Hartz of Palmyra and Ruth Burtner of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis C. Stump on June 9, 2002; four brothers, Maurice, Edward, Delma and Russell; and a sister, Valeria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church, 216 N. Main St., Shrewsbury, PA 17361.
