|Birth: ||Feb. 19, 1829|
|Death: ||Aug. 12, 1919|
Eliza L. Brandon, daughter of Joel and Abigail Sexson/Sexton, was born in Monroe County, Indiana, February 19, 1829, and died at the home of her only daughter, Permelia J. Long, August 12, 1919, aged ninety years, five months and twenty-tree days.
She was married to Ellis Brandon February 11, 1857.
To this union were born four sons and one daughter.
Three of the children died when quite young and the husband died March 28, 1867, the mother and Permelia, aged nine and George, aged seven, were left to battle in life's conflicts alone.
She bravely worked and raised her children who lived to love and honer her. George died June 17, 1913, and she has since made her home with her daughter and only living child—Permelia J. Long, who has tenderly and faithfully cared for her through all her old age and infirmities.
She was converted and joined the Methodist church at Hobbieville in her early youth and still held to that faith through all her long and useful life.
She was a woman of sterling qualities, and of an extraordinary intelligence and sound judgment.
She leaves to mourn her departure one daughter and one grandson, one daughter-in-law, and one brother, B. S. Sexson of Indianapolis, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted from the Walnut Grove church, Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock p.m. by Elder J. A. Spencer, and burial was in the churchyard cemetery.
