Obituary...
In Memory Of Our Dear Grandmother, Mrs. Vina Self. On the night of May 14th at one o'clock the Death Angel visited the home of Mrs. Vina Self and claimed her sweet spirit. Grandmother was 96 years of age and was a member of the Methodist Church from early childhood. She was loved by all who knew her. She was always good and kind and always had a sweet smile from everyone she met. Grandmother was an invalid for several years, but bore her sufferings with patience. We know Grandmother is at rest in the arms of Jesus. She said she saw angels. What a sweet thought it is to know grandmother was such a good Christian. Weep not dear children for her, but let us live a life like she lived so we may all meet again to part no more. Our loss is heaven's gain. A precious one from us is gone. A loving voice is stilled, a place is vacant in the home which never can be filled. The many floral tributes were touching evidence of the esteem in which grandmother was held. Sleep on dear mother and take thy rest. Oh how we miss you, but Jesus knew best. Gone is the form we loved so dear. Gone is the voice we loved to hear. Gone is her dread of all alarm, for she is safe in the Savior's arms. Never more will she have to sorrow. Never more will she have to worry. Never more have pain to bear for she is sweetly resting with our blessed Savior there. She is gone but not forgotten by the ones who loved her best. Oh how hard it was to give her up, but our Heavenly Father knoweth best. Just over on the other shore, there with her we will be united to know parting never more. When this earthly life with us is ended and our pilgrimage is over, when to that happy home we gather on the bright celestial shore, there to live with Jesus, our Blessed Master ever more. Oh, the joy to think of meeting when this hapless life is over. She leaves to mourn her death, five children, a number of grandchildren and a host of friends. Written by her granddaughters, Rena Hall and Marie Self, R.3, Oneonta, Ala.
