Eunice Noyes died July 29, 2005, at a Newberg care facility. She was 90.

She was born Aug. 20, 1914, to David and Helen (Saunders) Rhoades in Scranton, Iowa. She was raised in York, Neb. In 1935, she moved to Butteville and then to Newberg, where she has since resided. She married Harold Noyes. For many years, she worked as a clerk at Coast to Coast, which is now Newberg Hardware Store.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Newberg Eastern Star, Newberg Amarenth, Newberg JC's Club and the Newberg IOOF. She was Newberg's Citizen of the Year, served on Champoeg Historical Pageant for two or three years and served on the Yamhill Historical Society for 10 years. Twice she served in all the chairs of Eastern Star and was also the assistant to the Grand Lodge Worth Matron. She was a Boy Scout den mother for her three sons, involved in Girl Scouts with her daughter, and was a member of the Parent-Teacher Association for 22 years.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1967.

Her family said she was a good mother and a great baker and cook. She enjoyed camping, crafts, sewing, cross-stitch, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include: sons, Roger Noyes of Portland, Larry Noyes of Hillsboro and Allen Noyes of Newberg; daughter Janie Chase of McMinnville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, with Jason Harris officiating. Concluding Service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Evergreen Memorial Park in McMinnville.
