Gustavus died on the morning of the 27th day of May 1854 (Saturday) at Bucyrus, Ohio. He was taken with a chill about eleven o'clock Monday morning previous and about 12 o'clock he was taken with a spasm which settled on and affected his brain. The effect of this spasm remained and was increased by others on the third day of his illness from which time he labored under spasmodic influence until he died at 5 minutes past two o'clock on Saturday at 2 years 2 months and 12 days. His remains were interred in the Lutheran Burying Ground at Bucyrus on Sunday the 28th day of May at 3 o'clock. Such arrangement was made in the disposition of the body as to enable it to be removed without inconvenience as his present resting place is only considered temporary.

This was taken from the pages of an old family bible.
