Obituary published in the Contra Costa Times (California) July 28 to August 2, 2013:
Louis Fore 1946-2013 Resident of Napa Louis Stephen Fore of Napa died on July 6 of cancer. Born October 6, 1946 in Oakland to Jim and Helen Fore, he graduated Alameda HS in 1964 and attended U of Oregon on a football scholarship. While completing studies at SF State, Lou helped his father run Fore Trucking Co. and Fore Terminal, Inc. with offices in Alameda and Tacoma, WA. He became company President at age 31, and later President of the national Independent Liquid Terminal Assoc. In tribute to Lou's first wife Carolyne, Vice Principal at Alameda HS, who died of cancer in 1982, he helped create the Foundation for Educational Excellence in Alameda. He was active in Lions Club, Boys and Girls Club, and Ducks Unlimited. A sailor, pilot, duck hunter and fisherman, Lou developed many important life-long friendships in these endeavors. Living his life to the fullest, at age 41 he took his wife and sons on a four year,17,000 mile voyage on their sailboat, Vamonos. Upon return, they resided in Lafayette moving to Napa in 2001. He began a stellar career with Sears Home Improvements where he received many awards and accolades, eventually becoming Field Sales Manager so that he could help others achieve the great success that he had enjoyed. Touching the lives of many with his smile and willingness to help, Lou's greatest joy was family. He's survived by his wife Muriel (Gilmour) Fore and sons Nick and Jon Elder, daughter-in-law Heather (Bjork) Elder and beloved grandsons Jack and Reed. He's missed by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Lou's life will be Sunday, Aug 4, 4pm, Encinal Yacht Club, Alameda. Donations to Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church Deacon's Fund would be appreciated.
