Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Stratton Campeau Corbin, formerly of Somerset county, were held at Woodlawn cemetery in New York on Sunday last.

Mrs. Corbin, wife of Alfred O. Corbin, New York banker, was burned to death with her niece, Miss Blanche Lee Hurst of Parksley, Va., when their automobile overturned at Parsippany, N.J. on November 1st. Services were conducted on Sunday, November 4th at Sun Dance Manor, the Corbin home at Mountain Lakes, N.J., and the bodies were cremated on November 8th.

Mrs. Corbin was a daughter of the late Alexander Corbin of this county and spent a large part of her life in Somerset. After a career on the stage she married Frank Campeau, celebrated screen artist, and they established a country home near Westover where they resided for several years. Some years after being divorced from the actor she was married to Alfred O. Corbin, member of the well-known New York Banking firm, and their beautiful home at Mountain Lakes was one of the show places of the country.

Mr. Corbin plans to erect a Mausoleum near Crisfield for the ashes of the deceased.

The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, November 17, 1928, p. 1

Notes:
The Corbin Mausoleum was erected where Woodson Elementary School is located today in Crisfield, Md. After vandalism persisted, the urn holding the ashes of Mrs. Corbin was relocated to the Corbin Memorial Library in 1934. The library closed May 18, 2016 and a new Crisfield Public Library opened June 4, 2016. Mrs. Corbin's urn remained in the former library until Apr 2018 when it was transferred to the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home.

On May 17, 2019 the urn holding the cremains of Lilyan Stratton Corbin were returned to the former Corbin Memorial Library and placed back in the niche over the former circulation desk by Crisfield Mayor Barry Dize. The urn had been held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home a few blocks away while the building was refurbished for the Crisfield Arts & Entertainment Project and to make space for a city government meeting room. The building is now the Corbin Studio & Gallery, located at 4 East Main Street, Crisfield, Md.

Lillian's stage name was Lilyan Stratton. She was the author of four books: Reno, Homing, The Wife's Lessons, and the Feminine Philosophy.
