Jennie May Bates
A long time resident of the Stettler district, Mrs. Jennie May Bates, 77, died Aug. 29 in a Calgary hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Iowa, Mrs. Bates moved to the Stettler district in 1905.
Predeceased by her husband, W. D. Bates, in 1946, Mrs. Bates is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lily May Swanson of Calgary and Mrs. Mary Ellen Schryber of Vancouver; three sons, Charles Harold of California, Oliver Dale of Stettler and Lester Melvin of Calgary; one brother, Charles A. Stanfield, Cranbrook, B.C.; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
