Civil War Union Army Officer. He was commissioned as Colonel and commander of the 7th Pennsylvania Reserves (36th Pennsylvania Volunteers) on June 26, 1861. He led his regiment through General George B. McClellan's Spring 1862 Peninsular Campaign, commanding it during the intense combat that marked the late June 1862 Seven Days Battles. Three days after his unit took part in the concluding battle of the campaign, the July 1 Battle of Malvern Hill, Colonel Harvey resigned his commission. (bio by: Russ Dodge)
