Edward A. Konkel, 79, of 919 Raton Court, Manitowoc, died Thursday, March 31, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
A memorial Mass will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with a memorial service to follow at Jens Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc. The Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate. Cremation will have taken place and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Konkel was born April 28, 1903, at Milwaukee, son of the late Joseph and Augusta Rotta Konkel. He married Helen Glowienka Oct. 21, 1929, at Stevens Point. The couple resided in Manitowoc since 1942. He had been employed at the Manitowoc Company as a sheetmetal worker. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Boilermakers Union Local 443 and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Norman Konkel of Lyman, Wyo., Quentin and Frances Konkel of Miami, Fla., and Richard and Linda Konkel of Homestead, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and James Kopetsky of Manitowoc and Hildemar and Arthur Karstaedt of Newton, seven grandchildren, a great grandson and nieces and nephews. A son, Edward Louis, four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
There will be no Tuesday evening visitation. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
