Blaine A. MENTZER, 77, of HCR 61, Box 420, Mill Creek, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born March 13, 1925, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Russel and Olive (Gutshall) Mentzer. He was twice married: first to Edna Crownover June 2, 1946, who preceded him in death; then to Loey Carson June 12, 1994, who survives at their home. He is survived by two daughters, Fay Montgomery, Greencastle; and Donna Bollinger, Mill Creek; and a stepson, Randy Carson, Mill Creek. There are ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Esther Wagner, Lewistown; Helen Mellott and Flo Scott, both of Mount Union; Grace Miller, Shirleysburg; Merrill Mentzer, Shippensburg: and Dale Mentzer, Wilmington, Del. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death: Ruth Kyler, Freda Mentzer, and
Earl, Cloyd. Jeremiah and Carl Mentzer. Mr. Mentzer was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, he served as a U.S. Army private first class with the 303rd Troop Carrier Squadron of the 442nd TIC Group. He retired as a supervisor from Letterkenny Army Depot. He enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday, Sept. 6, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Raymond C. Crownover officiating. Interment will be made in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek.
