George was Civil War soldier from Illinois, Co K 73rd Illinois Infantry. He was shot twice during war, first at Battle of Chickamauga, GA., second at Battle of Kenesaw Mountain, GA. He was member of DeSoto GAR Post #564.
Physical description: Height 5'10", complexion, light; hair, light; eyes blue. He was a farmer.

George Kolb died at 10 o'clock Sunday morning at his home in De Soto. A week ago he feel from a wagon at his farm and his injuries and advanced age caused his death.
He was born in Baden, Germany, 79 years ago and came to American in 1850, locating in Kentucky, where he married Della Norris in 1854. They moved to Illinois in 1856, and Mrs. Kolb died in 1895. The following year Mr. Dolb was married to Florence Sanders. She is the only surviving near relative.
Mr. Kolb enlisted in Co. K, 73rd Illinois infantry in 186, and served three years in the Civil War.
Funeral at De Soto at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Kitch of the Lutheran church, of which Mr. Kolb was a member. Interment in De Soto cemetery. -- Independent--
