Russell Bruce Suverkrubbe was born Dec. 24, 1941 to Russell H. and Phyllis (Andersen) Suverkrubbe in Blair, Nebraska.

In April 1942, he was baptized at Emmaus Lutheran Church by Rev. P.C. Jensen and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington, Nebraska in 1956.

A 1960 graduate of Blair High School, he served in the Army security from November 1962 to August 1965, during the Vietnam Era.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1970 and was employed at the University of Nebraska at Scottsbluff; American Sign Company; Terra Chemical; and Dakotah Direct – HunTel (a local telephone/cable company).

R. Bruce Suverkrubbe, 57, of Blair died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at his home in Blair.

Services were Thursday, Feb. 11 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard, Nebraska. Burial was in the German Cemetery.

Left with memories are two daughters, Lisa Post of Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Lana Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Phyllis Suverkrubbe of Blair; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Candace of Blair; and Steven and Sue of Omaha; and two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell, and his sister, Susan Suverkrubbe.

Memorials are suggested to the German Cemetery or Emmaus Lutheran Church. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
