ELM GROVE, LA – Services for Mr. Norman "Pappy" Lamar, 76, of Elm Grove, LA will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 14, 1998 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Lt. Col. George Finck and Tommy Holmes. Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 till 7 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 1998 at the funeral home.
Mr. Lamar passed away on Thursday, December 10, 1998 in Elm Grove, LA following a lengthy illness. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of Active Duty. Mr. Lamar served 22 years in the American Legion. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite, Past Commander of American Legion Post 388 receiving the Blue Cap Award, 40/8 Past Chef de Gare #1588, American Legion State Department Internal Affairs, Fourth District Judge Advocate, Fourth District Chairman, 40/8 State Outstanding Voyageur of the year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar; sister, E. Hatfield and son, R. Stephens.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lin Lamar; four brothers, Eddie Lamar, Frank Lamar, Lawrence Lamar, Raymond Lamar and their wives; one daughter-in-law, Janice Stephens; four grandchildren, Mar, Tammy, Gregg, and Clay Stephens; three great-grandchildren, Leah Jo Stephens, Brittany Allums and Robert Stephens.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Betty Rodgers, Martha Manus, Ella Chambers and Gail Cole.
