Leslie H. May, 91, of Modesto, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2013 with his daughter Gayle by his side. Les was born in Acorn, Arkansas to Henry and Blanche May on March 19, 1922.
He joined the Marines Corp in 1943 and after being discharged at the rank of Sergeant, came home and married his sweetheart, Golda Casey on October 27, 1946.
Les was a welder in the Plumbers Pipefitters trade and retired in the mid 1980's as a Business Representative. He and Golda were members of the Community Assembly of God Church for more than fifty years.
Les was preceded in death by his wife Golda, daughter, Marlene, son, Steven and brothers, Art and Lee.
He is survived by his daughter, Gayle Barker of Chanhassen, Minnesota; granddaughter, Kassia Barker of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; granddaughter, Corinne May of Modesto, California; and grandson, Michael May of Modesto, California.
A viewing will be held Monday, October 14, between 4 and 8 pm at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto, California.
Graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California, on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
