Ex Alderman Williams Dead.

Ex Alderman David M. Williams, formerly of the north end, died at his home at 12th and Hampton Streets on February 10th. His death was unexpected to his many friends who were unaware of his illness. He was complaining for about six months but was not able to get about until just a few weeks ago when he was stricken with paralysis with complications of other ailments, caused his demise. There were few better men throughout the valley than the deceased. His amicable and cheerful disposition and his rare manly qualities won his a host of friendships that regret his sudden departure from their midst.

He was a native of Rhymney, South Wales, and was born March 8, 1835 Mr. Williams came to this country in 1857, locating in Pittston, where he remained until 1881, when he went to the North End to reside. He was an inhabitant of that section for nearly eighteen years, five of which he served in the capacity of Alderman of the First Ward. He was an excellent magistrate and his services were highly commended by his constituents. His official dealings were always conscientious and in other departments of his life he dis- played rare capabilities and praiseworthy characteristics Three years ego be came to the West Side and married on the second occasion, the widow of T. J. Rowlands. The deceased was classed among the leading Welch and Welch-American bards and his interesting contributions have received wide spread attention His nom de plume was "Dewl Glan Elryoh "

He ie survived by the widow and the following children: Mrs Elizabeth Turner, White Haven; Mrs. Mary A. Twist, Laflin; Mrs Edward Shaffer, Wllkes-barre; David, William, Tallesin. of Scranton; Irvin Williams, Mrs. Ellen Monday and Gomer Williams, of Peckville
