NEWMAN, HAL L. - age 86, of Strawberry Plains, passed away at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 10, 1997, and went to be with God and his loving wife, Emmer and sister, Maude.
He belonged to Bethel United Methodist Church and attended Strawberry Plains United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Hal L. Newman, Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Doug Clower, and Evelyn and Bob Greenlee. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Chris Greenlee and his wife, Kathy, Lisa Clower, James Clower, and Erin Greenlee; one great-grandson, Austin Greenlee; and two brothers, Russell Newman and Robert Newman and their families.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at McCarty's Evergreen Chapel, funeral service to follow, with Rev. Tom Ballard officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastview Memorial Gardens where the family will meet. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Chris Greenlee and James Clower.
