| Birth: | May 28, 1884 | | Death: | Sep. 3, 1948 |  Czechoslovakian President. He was born in Kozlany, Bohemia, which at the time was a province of Austria-Hungary. He was one of the leaders of the Czechoslovakian independence movement. At the end of World War I, he participated at the Versailles conference and was one of the main forces behind the creation of Czechoslovakia. He became the first Foreign Minister of Czechoslovakia and in 1935, he became the second president of Czechoslovakia. During World War II, he fled Czechoslovakia and became the president in exile while living in Great Britain. At the end of World War II, he returned home as the President of Czechoslovakia. However, at this time, Czechoslovakia was under communist control and he resigned as president in 1948. He died at his villa in Sezimovo Ústí, Czechoslovakia on September 3, 1948.
