Mr. FREDERICK DOUGLAS HOLMES was born on February 16, 1934 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Suddenly on Thursday, November 24, 1977 God chose to removed Frederick from our midst into His Heavenly Home.
Mr. Holmes attended Williston High School. After completing High School, Mr. Holmes attended Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia. Mr. Holmes furthered his education at Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia where he received his B.S. Degree in Sociology.
Mr. Holmes spent his professional life in various occupations; culminating in his ownership and direction of The Harford Motor Coach Bus Company since 1971. Mr. Holmes devotion, love and hard work turned a struggling enterprise into a productive company.
Mr. Holmes achieved leadership in The Business World and his community. Mr. Holmes was a member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, The Pi Omega Chapter. Mr. Holmes was a brother in The Masons, and The Morning Star Lodge No. 44.
Mr. Holmes attended The Heritage United Christ Church, located on Liberty Heights Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Holmes was a loving, kind and affectionate husband, and friend. Mr. Holmes was a very humble man, who would help any-one that needed his help. Mr. Holmes was known and loved by all who knew him. Mr. Holmes will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him.
Mr. Holmes is survived by: his devoted wife, Carolyn; loving daughter, Cheryl; loving mother, Mrs. Nellie Holmes of Wilmington, North Carolina; two sisters, Sadie Blair of Chicago, Illinois; and Annelle Gardner of Wilmington, North Carolina; three brothers, James Holmes of Wilmington, North Carolina, Charles Holmes of Topeka, Kansas; and Alexander Holmes of Long Island, New York; and a host of other relatives and friends.
