One of Vestal Center's oldest residents, Mrs. Corson was guest of honor at the annual Vestal Center Community Fair held yesterday. The former Mae Drumm, Mrs. Corson was born on her father's farm at Bunn Hill, Nov. 3, 1870, and lived there until her marriage to Burleigh Corson Dec. 17, 1889. Now six generations of her family have been represented in the Drumms and Corsons living around Vestal Center. Mrs. Corson's father, when a young man, was visiting relatives in Vestal Center back in 1853 and spotted a Bunn Hill farm he decided he wanted. Being too young to take the deed in his own name, he described the property and his mother and the younger children came from their Dutchess County home by train, while his father and the older boys drove a team of oxen to their new farm. Mrs. Corson still has the deed, dated Feb. 26, 1853. Living in her own home on Route 26 about a mile south of Vestal Center, Mrs. Corson is surrounded by colorful geraniums and other flowers inside the house and out. She takes complete care of her own home.
