Mrs. Battin dies Friday
Whiteland--Mrs. Nettie M. Battin, age 96 died Friday at the Welcome Nursing Home in Franklin, following an illness of several years. She had lived in Whiteland for 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church there. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 P.M. from the Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.
Mrs. Battin was born February 14, 1873 at Nashville, the daughter of John E. and Elizabeth Pogue Campbell. In 1892 she married in Nashville to Samuel E. Battin who died in 1938.
Survivors include 4 children, Mrs. Ed Speas, Mr. Meredith Stevens, Charles F. Battin, and Harold Battin, all of Whiteland. A son preceded her in death. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 half-sisters, Mrs. William Speas of Bargersville, Mrs. John Spurgeon of Fowler, Mrs. Roy Rohrabaugh of Lafayette, and Mrs. Kenneth Hestand of Brooks.
