Hermann Bondi
Birth: 1920, Austria
Death: Sep. 10, 2005, England

Scientist. He graduated from Trinity College at Cambridge. He lectured in mathematics at Cambridge University before becoming a mathematics professor at King's College in London, England from 1954 to 1971. He was appointd Director General of the European Space Research in 1967 which tried to link the space programs in Western European countries to compete with the U.S. and Soviet Union. He was master of Churchill College at Cambridge from 1983 to 1990. He was knighted Queen Elizabeth II in 1973 for his services to education and science. He advised the British government as chief scientific adviser to the Ministry of Defence from 1971 to 1977. He was later appointed chief scientist for the Department of Energy until 1980. He was the author of his autobiography "Science, Churchill and Me" in 1990 and the book, "Cosmology" in 1952 about his theories of the universe. (bio by: Genet)
