Lydia Arnold was born in either Manchester, Bennington, VT or East Haddam, Middlesex, CT. She was the daughter of Daniel Arnold and Esther Fox Arnold. She married Samuel Latta on 12 May 1806 in New York. Following their wedding they moved to Port Rochester at the mouth of the Genesee River. They had eight known children. Following Samuel's death in 1827, Lydia married again to John Beals.
