Gene Roberts, 75, passed away, on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home, in West Point. Everett Eugene Roberts was born April 30, 1938 in Webster County to the late Lettie Ree Harrison and Oscar Roberts. Gene worked as an Automobile Mechanic for Larry White Chevrolet, Mitchell Automotive and later working for Sonny Jameson. He was of the Baptist faith. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and had served in the National Guard. Everett Eugene Roberts married Sarah Earline Arnold Roberts on June 26, 1961, in Carrollton, Alabama.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 19, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jackie Roy McComb officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Webster County near Eupora. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include wife Earline Arnold Roberts; one daughter, Kim Roberts Leggett of all West Point; two grandchildren; Matthew Leggett and Patrick Leggett; one sister, Margeret McMullen of Starkville; two brothers, Bobby Roberts (Sandy) of Eupora, Leland Roberts (Tina) of Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Eugene Roberts on July 23, 1992, and his brother, Oscar Roberts, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Chuck McMullen, Robbie Roberts, Dustin Arnold, Daniel Arnold, Jonathan Lanthrip, and Chanc Mathis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Jameson, Carter Lang, Patick Leggett, Matthew Leggett, Jacob McCool, Anthony Gwathney, Jimmy Bell, Hunter Estes, Jack Jameson, Malloy Leggett, Alex Millsaps and Jimmy Roberts.
Memorials may be made to Mount Moriah Cemetery Care Fund, c/o Van Johnson, 867 Ticky Bend Road, Eupora, MS 39744.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
