Bud was the son of Carrell Dock Dailey (Jan. 12, 1855-Dec. 27, 1933) and Susan McCaig Dailey (June 8, 1851-June 19, 1923), who are buried in Dailey Cemetery in Perry County, Tennessee.

He was the husband of Sophia Frances ("Fannie") Chessor, and the father of Earlie, Brown, and Regeon Dailey.

Bud is buried next to his brother-in-law John D. Harper, who was married to Bud's sister Mary Etta. Mary Etta Dailey Harper (Oct. 26, 1876-June 4, 1911) is buried in Dailey Cemetery.
