Wife of George W Lewis
Martha S.Lewis was the daughter of John and Martha Hughes Toy. She married George W. Lewis in 1858 in Hamilton,Ind.
He died Aug. 16,1891, in Indianapolis,Ind. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lucy Summers, in 1900 and Emma Guirl in 1911.
Surviving are her remaining four children, 2 daughters R.B.(Alice) Craig, William (Minnie) Crabtree, two sons William Lewis and Charles Lewis, and numerous grandchildren.
Mrs. Lewis had lived in the Decatur area for about fifteen years. She had been a member of the SeventhDay Adventist Church for about thirty-five years.
Mrs. Martha Lewis, widow of George W. Lewis, died at 1 o'clock Wednesday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. B. Craig, 979 West Green street. She was seventy-eight years old. Her death was due to the infirmities of age and complications. She had been ill for three weeks. Mrs. Craig had lived in Decatur for about fifteen years, coming here from Peoria. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church for thirty-five years. She is survived by four children. Mrs. R. B. Craig and Mrs. Minnie Crabtree of Decatur, W.E. Lewis of Peoria and Charles Lewis of Frederick, Ill. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence, 979 West Green street. The Interment will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
