Salome Dillingham Gibbs was born to Nathan Bourne Gibbs and Salome Dillingham Gibbs of Bournedale, Mass. She married Benjamin Franklin Beal of Milton on Sept. 24th, 1829 in Bournedale. Her husband was a prosperous local farmer who raised cattle and who ran a slaughterhouse with his brother Jonathan Beal. They lived in what was considered to be the oldest house in Milton at the intersection of Adams and Centre St (north side of street). The farm was originally called the Pratt farm, the house, dating from the mid seventeenth century. After her husband's unfortunate death, Salome sold her home and farm and moved to Worcester. After her youngest son, Walter G. Beal finished school, she returned to her childhood home, Riverside (now the Carter W. Beal Conservation Area) at Bournedale, where she lived out her remaining years. She and her husband had 7 children.
