Mr. James Walter Allred, Jr., 90, of Evergreens Nursing Center died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Allred was a native of High Point and the son of the late James and Mary Mae Coble Allred. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946 and retired from Western Electric in 1976, after 26 years of employment. James was a charter member of both the Four Seasons Lion Club and the General Green Antique Car Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Reynolds Allred in 1994 and by one brother, Hoyle Allred.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Allred King and husband, Terry, of Pleasant Garden; one sister, Marie Holden of Florida; one brother, Thurmond Allred and wife, Mary, of Wilmington; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
