Jessie A. Monks was the daughter of Frederick W. Monks and "Dottie" Dorothy M. Burt of Saranac, Ionia Co., MI.
Her father died in 1906 in Saranac, Boston Twp., Ionia Co., MI. Her mother also must have died young. She is listed on 1910 Federal Census Boston Twp., Ionia Co., MI., with paternal Grandparents John J. Monks and Emma A. Switzer Monks. She moves and is raised by her "Aunt Frankie" Frances May Monks Christie and husband Oscar Lewis Christie with their daughter Theressa Pauline Christie. Jessie and Theressa were 1st cousins but as close as sisters.
She married a William Brad. He died shortly after from heart attack while driving his car. She is a widow on 1830 Federal Census living with her aunt Frances and uncle Oscar L. Christie in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI.
1930 Jessie Monks Brad marries Frederick Charles Bridgeman. 1940 Federal Census living in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. They have two boys: Fred Jr. and James "Jimmy" Bridgeman. I remember all of them making the
trip to California in our trailers. My parents ended in San Bernardino, CA., but Fred and Jessie and boys returned to Detroit, Michigan in 1945-46.
At some time I believe they left Detroit for Dearborn Heights, Wayne Co., MI.
Jessie's father Fred W. Monks was the brother of my step-grandfather Herbert Monks of Flint, MI. FAG#59163615 married to my grandmother Elfa Rose Babcock, Foster, Monks.
