Plain City-Our beloved father, brother and grandfather, J.D. (Junior DuWayne) Bingham, 82, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

J.D. was born December 10, 1930 in Ogden, UT to Ivan Ryon and LeOra Edna Wheeler Bingham; the oldest of 14 children. He was a born leader and a hero to everyone who knew and loved him. On September 12, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Lorene Lowe, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had an inseparable bond of selfless and devoted love for 61 years. He has greatly missed her since her passing in 2012.

J.D. was a humble, unpretentious, and giant of a man who loved quietly and gently. Among his numerous talents, he loved flying and built from scratch a World War II German Focke Wulf 190 aircraft that is now on display at a museum in Lancaster, CA. In addition, he loved music and sharing it with his family and friends, especially enjoying the years spent in the Bingham Family Band. As an avid golfer, he played every chance he had.

In his early years, he worked in home construction and later worked for 30 years at the I.R.S. Dad served valiantly for 28 years as a pilot and commander in the Utah National Guard, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

J.D. was preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings: Lamar, Farrell, Douglas, Ryon, Tamara and his grandson Kirk Deis.

He is survived by his three children: Scott (Sharon) Bingham, Lori Deis and Teri (Brad) Nance; sisters: Beverly Law, Donna Steadman, Marilyn Wakefield, Ilene Lee, Pat Wright, Shirlene Tranmer, Debbie Salisbury and brother Sherman; 14 loving grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with father's wishes there will be no funeral service.

A viewing for him will be held at Plain City 6th Ward, 4375 West 2350 North, Plain City on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 28 from 3 to 4 p.m. followed by graveside services at the Plain City Cemetery at 4:30 p.m.

Dad, you are our hero, our strength. You are larger than life in our eyes and will live on forever and ever in our hearts. We love you.
