Another drowning victim was claimed by Lake Erie on Wednesday, August 10th, when William D. Dossett, 47, of 80 Eaton St., disappeared beneath the surface while swimming at Bay View Beach, Town of Hamburg.
His companion, Miss. Helen Scott, of 222 Cherry St., thinking he had gone ashore, started a search for him there, but when he was not found, frantically asked the aid of pother swimmers.
Arthur Gutowski of 22 Pine Ridge Ter., Cheektowaga, found Mr. Dossett's body about 100 feet off shore. An inhalator squad from the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company tried in vain for an hour to revive him.
Mr. Dossett, who lived as a calf skinner for Francis E. Schrowe, hide and tallow firm of 14 Spencer st. He is survived by his wife Viola F. (Naumann) Dossett; a son, Richard; three sisters, Mrs. John Kunik, Mrs. Jeremiah Nolan, and Mrs. Esther Christian, and two brothers, Joseph and Frank Miller. Another brother, Clarence Miller is deceased.
