HANS C. NIELSEN BURIED MONDAY

Hans Christian Nielsen, early settler of Washington county, passed away last Saturday, June 19th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Merton Winchell, living just south of Blair.

Deceased was born in Fyn, Denmark January 8th, 1860, and was thus 77 years, 5 months and 11 days old at his death. He came to Washington county fifty five years ago, and was married to Miss Annie Anderson October 14, 1887.

To this happy union two children were born, Louis and Etta. The former died in infancy, and the latter, now Mrs. Merton Winchell, has been a great comfort to her father, who since the death of the wife now nineteen years ago, has been lonely.

Mr. and Mrs. Winchell have done much to make those lonely years happy for the deceased, and they will greatly miss his presence in the household.

Besides the daughter and husband, he is survived by a granddaughter, Miss Irene Winchell and also two nieces and two nephews residing in Omaha, and one sister and one brother residing in Denmark.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church while still in the mother country, and with his dealings with his fellow man, and in his home life, he has lived up to the precepts of his church.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bendorf Funeral Home, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
