Paul Gaston Gamble, a son of Dr. William Gaston Gamble and the former Miss Elizabeth Ivanova Agnew, was born on June 7th 1882. His parents were both from old families in the area of Brice's Corners and Bethany A.R.P. Church.
Paul was educated at McTyere Preparatory in preparation to attend Vanderbilt University. He then attended the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston and Tulane Medical School; where he received his Medical degree in 1909.
After his internship in New York, he entered private practice with his older brother, Dr. Hugh Agnew Gamble in Greenville, Mississippi. They later founded the Doctors Gamble Brothers and Archer Clinic, the first clinic of its kind in the state of Mississippi.
During World War I, Paul Gamble served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp and for a year headed the Evacuation Hospital No. 34 outside Paris, France.
On June 17th 1918, Paul married Miss Mary Victoria Liepe in Birmingham, Alabama. This union had two children, a son, Paul Jr. and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth.
Dr. Paul Gaston Gamble was a member of the American Southern, Mississippi and Delta Medical Association (President 1947-48), a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Association of Railroad Surgeons and a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Dr. gamble departed this life on February 8th 1957 in Greenville, Mississippi where he had lived most of his adult life. He was buried beside his wife, Mary, who had preceded him 4 years earlier.
