Stephen was a wholesale produce merchant in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and two Strebig brothers ran the enterprise for many years.
Sometime after Katie's death in 1922, Stephen married Clarice Pfister (a California native). They spent part of the year in Cincinnati and the rest in California.
Stephen died from a pulmonary embolism aged 75 years. After his death, Clarice lived in California permanently. She died in 1963 and is buried in Los Palos, Mercer Co, California.
Stephen was my great grandfather.

SONS INHERIT SHARES
of Stephen Bender in Commission Firm-Will is Filed
Ordering that his interest in the partnership of Bender, Streibig and Company, commission merchants be divided equally between his sons, Arthur S. and Harry C Bender, the will of Stephen Bender who died last Wednesday, was filed with Judge William H. Leanders in Probate Court Yesterday.
Three other children of the decedent: Charles S. Bender, Mrs. Lillian Partridge and Mrs. Erma Trame, are to receive sums equal to the shares of their brothers based on the book value of the interest in the commissionn company.
All his household goods and automobiles are bequeather to his widow, Clara B. Bender, 1134 Sunset Avenue, who is also to receive $15.000, which the will says, is in conformity with their antenuptual agreement entered late May 15, 1925.
To his sisters, Frances Kareth, Barbara Wittekind and Theresa Borgerding, he gives $1,000 each. The remainder of the estate is to be divided among the five children. Advances made to his children are charged against their share as follows: Arthur Bender $8,000. Mrs Trame $13,500; Mrs Partridge $10,000; Charles S. Bender $6,000 and Harry C. Bender $5,000.
The will, executed Oct. 21, 1933, names the three sons executors. An estimate made for the purpose of starting the administration, values the estate at $15,000 in personal property; and $10,000 in real estate
