James Dale "Streaker" Shults, 79, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Abilene, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

James was born April 30, 1934 to Horace Shults and Zula Norris Shults in Cosby, Tennessee. He served his country in the United States Army as a radioman for the 101st Airborne Division "Screamin' Eagles". James married Carol Alferink on July 15, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a truck driver for 50 years, hauling cattle. James was jovial and never met a stranger. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. James will be dearly missed by his beloved "Shultsie".

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David, Donald, and Duke Shults; and sisters, Inelle Shults, Ina Rae Shults, and Evelyn Hartsell.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Shults of Abilene; two daughters, Pam (Michael) Huffman of Abilene and Bobbie (Mark) Hill of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Miriam Keener of Cosby, Tennessee and Mary Henry of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jimmy Huffman, Jeremy Huffman, Kim Dickey, Kristi Baker, Davie Garner, Kenny Shults, Larry Floyd, Todd Garner, and Tabitha Lopez; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
