Charles Hall Sluss 82, of Oliver Springs, died at 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, 1995, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a lengthy illness with pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Sluss began employment May 3, 1946, with Union Carbide Nuclear Division at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, now K-25 Site. He retired as a chemical operator on Dec. 31, 1974.

He was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Welch, W.Va., the son of Fred C. and Mary Frances Sluss. Before working with Union Carbide, he lived in Sevierville for several years where he was a teacher.

Mr. Sluss was a member of Community Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cora G. Sluss; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue S. and John R. Masters of Woodlands, Texas; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John C. Sluss of Atlanta, GA., David J. and Ann K. Sluss and Danny W. and Donna A. Sluss, all of Knoxville.

Mr. Sluss is also survived by 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson and a sister-in-law, Julia Sluss of Sevierville.

Three sisters and five brothers died earlier.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Curtis Tindall officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Highway 61 in the Marlow Community.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, April 25, at the mortuary.
