Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Harold Conques, age 87, who passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Courtyard Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Gregory Cormier, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Conques was a native of Carencro, where he lived most of his life. He retired from AT&T in 1983 after more than 35 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Conques was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He belonged to many organizations, which included VFW Post 9822, Carencro War Veterans, Woodmen of the World, the R.O.M.E.O. Club and the Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include one son, Richard Conques and wife, Ramona, of Woodworth; one daughter, Joan Rutherford and husband, Jim, of Carrollton, TX; four grandchildren, Dawn Whiteside, Robin Perry and husband, Kelley, Roxie Goetz and husband, Glenn, and Tracie Quintero and husband, Jesus; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Conque and wife, Aline, of Lafayette; and a special friend, Elsie Boudreaux of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Kilchrist Conques; his parents, Rene Conques and the former Valsene Richard; and two brothers, Louis Conque and Bob Conques.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Conque, Durwood Conque, Guy Kilchrist, Jeremy Whiteside, Michael Whiteside and Brian Whiteside. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Murray Conque.

Memorial contributions can be made to any veteran's organization of your choice.
