DEATH: BARNHOUSE, Jno., white male, d. 18 Jan 1896, Loudoun, dropsy, 76-0-0, parents: R. & V. (should be M or J) Barnhouse, b. Loudoun, farmer, husband, source: Richd Harris son-in-law, Leesburg Dist. (John Barnhouse grandfather gave information on a birth of his Harris grandchild in 1888. It is this John since dau. Sarah married Richard Harris.)
OBIT: "Brunswick Herald" newspaper Friday, January 31, 1896 Vol V, No. 49 Scattersville: Mr. John Barnhouse, an aged and highly respected citizen of this vicinity, passed away last week, aged about 76 years. The Loudoun Telephone says: A correspondent from Lost Corner sends us the following: John Barnhouse of Stumptown, died Saturday, from blood poison, resulting from a surgical operation, by Dr. Harbaugh, of Point of Rocks. Mr. Barnhouse was about 76 years old, and while visiting his son, Robert Barnhouse, of Point of Rocks, was induced to have his life insured for $500, in favor of his son Robert Barnhouse, who paid all the usual fees of the local insurance company, of Frederick City, Md. He then had a surgical operation performed before being examined by the Insurance Company's doctor, who subsequently made an examination and pronounced him all right; and within four hours there after he was taken ill and finally died.
