ELK GARDEN - Birdie Jean Amtower, 83, of Elk Garden, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Western Maryland Health System. Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Kitzmiller, Md., she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Naomi (Harvey) Fike. Birdie was also preceded in death by her husband, Olen H. Amtower; brothers, Russell Fike, William Fike, Sid Fike; and sisters Ruby Murphy, Vera Cook and Macel Rawlings. Birdie's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Emoryville United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller, on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gloria Georg officiating. Interment will be in the North Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Jose Loveria and the nurses of WMHS 6 West.
