Regina Mary Holz, 80, of Sunrise Assisted Living of Edina, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003. She is formerly of 1410 W. Fourth St., Winona.
Regina was born in Rosemount, Minn., on June 18, 1923, daughter of Herman and Marie (McDonald) Erler.
She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from St. Margaret's Academy in Minneapolis. During World War 11, she wrote to servicemen, and met her husband this way.
Regina was united in marriage to Edward C. Holz on June 28, 1947, in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1993. They enjoyed many evenings of swing dancing in the area.
Regina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its Rosary Society and was a member of its choir for many years. She belonged to TOPS since 1971 and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Westfield Golf Club.
Regina is survived by a son, Howard C. (Carol) Holz, Edina; daughters, Anita M. (Tom) Gerrety, Fridley, Minn., and Elizabeth A. (Greg) Gulsvig, Farmington, Minn.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Brother H. Raphael Erler, Winona, and Arthur (Monica) Erler, St. Paul.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Edward; son, Thomas E.; a brother, Edward Erler; and a sister, Lillian Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Celebration will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Winona, with the Rev. Msgr. Roy Literski, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers will be Tom Edholm, Bert Styba, Don Kaufman, Glenn Gulsvig, Bob Northam and Bob McDonald.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, Minnesota-Dakotas Chapter, 4550 W. 77th St., Suite 100, Edina, MN 55435.
