The memorial service for Elsie I. Andreasen, 83, of Stewartville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at United Methodist Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating.
Mrs. Andreasen died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, of natural causes at her home.
Elsie Irene Krueger was born Jan. 10, 1930, to Earl and Tilda (Kjonaas) Krueger in New Richland. She grew up in New Richland, and after the death of her mother, Tilda was raised by George and Tillie Keen. She attended New Richland schools, graduating from New Richland High School in 1948. Elsie was married on Oct. 25, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, to Gordon Andreasen. The couple lived in Stewartville before moving to rural Stewartville where they farmed for a number of years and raised their children. Mrs. Andreasen was a homemaker and was employed at Rochester Equipment and in the accounting department with Olmsted County for a number of years. Mr. Andreasen was a longtime area farmer and owned and operated a feed milling and grinding business for a number of years. After retiring the Andreasens moved to a lake home in Park Rapids, enjoying 16 years there. They moved to Mankato, for a time, before returning to Stewartville. Mr. Andreasen died on March 28, 2013.
Mrs. Andreasen was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Stewartville and Park Rapids. She was active with her childdren's 4-H and scouting activities and was a past member of the Stewartville American Legion Auxiliary. Elsie enjoyed raising sheep while on the farm and the company of her pet dogs. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to the loons at the lake, quilting and traveling to the western U.S. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by two daughter and one son, Richard (Janine) of Mankato, Gwen (Randy) Stier-Greitag of Spring Valley and Barbara Andreasen of St. Louis Park; three grandchildren, Ella Andreasen, Gabriel (Lisa) Steir and Christopher (Leah) Stier; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nathaniel and Aiden; one brother, Charles (Phyllis) Krueger of Milaca.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, three sisters, Marion Lingenfeller, Florence Peterson and Florence Ackland and two brothers, Don and Henry Krueger.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home, in Stewartville, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at a later date.
