He was killed, along with seven other Army
airmen, when B-24E Liberator #42-6988 was
involved in a mid-air collision with another
B-24 (#42-7240) in the skies, approximately
five miles southwest of the airfield during a
training flight.
Son of Carl A. Walline, age 22.
