She and her husband changed their surname and three of their four children, to the Americanized "Pine" during WWI. From family stories, a no-nonsense woman always graciously groomed and dressed. The house in River Forest she raised her family in was two doors away where later her daughter Anna Edith Krumme Pine (von Pein) Wormood (third child) raised hers, and this same house was later bought by the third child of this daughter's, making for three generations two doors apart for over a century.
