A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Elizabeth Drong, 72, of Glencoe was held on Wednesday July 23, from the Church of St Pius X in Glencoe. Officiating was the Rev. Ambrose Mahon.

Mrs Drong died at Bethesda Care Center in St Paul on Saturday, July 19, 2003.

The organist was Marie Eischens, and the song leader was Shari Templin. The music selections were "Here I Am Lord," "On Eagle's Wings," "Amazing Grace," "Ave Maria," and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were James Drong, Jerry Primus, Dale Van Erem, Yancey Schafer and Chris Jacques. Interment was in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.

Mildred Elizabeth Meyer was born to George and Anna (Mahler) Meyer on May 27, 1931, in Cullman, Alabama. She received the sacraments of baptism, first communion and confirmation at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman. She graduated from the Sacred Heart High School and later attended the Sacred Heart Academy.

On November 18, 1952, she was united in marriage with Anthony Drong at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1961, the couple moved to Glencoe.

Mrs Drong was employed by Green Giant in Glencoe and later Medallion Kitchens in Waconia. She was an active member of the Catholic church by singing in the choir, helping with cleaning and belonging to its Council of Catholic Women. Mrs Drong also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs Drong enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting and knitting. She liked fishing, camping and the outdoors. She loved being a grandmother.

Survivors include her husband Anthony Drong of Glencoe; children, Veronica (Jeff) Renner of Herndon, Virginia, and Tom (Sarah) Drong of Glencoe; grandchildren Mitchell and Amber Drong; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane Meyer of Cullman, Alabama, Mary and Jim Van Winkle of Renton, Washington, Bernice and Erbie Hopwood of Sharon, N.D., Frances and Gerald Brewer of Jamestown, N.D., James and Pat Drong of Sanborn, N.D.; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters; and three brothers.

The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangments.
