Ephraim was the son of Eliphalet Gay and Dorothy Hale of Newton and Dedham, Mass. He was married in Dedham on 29 Sep 1758 to Lois Fisher, the daughter of William Fisher and Elizabeth Daniels. Ephraim moved with his family to New London about 1780. He and Lois had a very large family of children, most, if not all, of whom survived him.
