WAKEMAN - Carrie Maderia (nee Anderson), 85 years of age and a resident of Wakeman, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013, after a short illness, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 31, 1927 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to the late Marshall and Ollie (nee Rager) Anderson.
Mrs. Maderia has been a resident of Wakeman since 2000. She resided in Oberlin from 1978-2000, moving from Lorain.
She and her late husband Joseph enjoyed Gardening, camping and traveling. She also crocheted afghans for all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters Cathy (Al) Murillo of Amherst, Jean (Jim) Raible of Elyria, Lou Ann (Chuck) Hayslett of Vermilion, Joyce (Dennis) Marks of Wakeman, Jackie Grospitch of North Olmsted; a son Pat (Jill) Maderia of Boca Raton, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and 1 expected great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph, who passed away March 13, 2013; her brothers and their wives, Lawrence (Betty) Anderson, and Russell (Frances) Anderson.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, 4-8 p.m., at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Closing prayers will be 10:15 a.m., Monday at the funeral home, followed by 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst. Rev. Jack Tezie will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
