Prominent Film Review Critic for the New York Times. Loving wife of Robert. Loving mother of Robert. She attended Erasmus Hall High School and St. Joseph's College for Women. Following graduation, she taught at the Academy of the Holy Child Jesus, Manhattan. Her activity as a previewer of movies-she always emphatically denied she was a "censor"-began in 1922 as a volunteer working in the Motion Picture Bureau of the International Federation of Catholic Alumnae. In 1925, the national board of review asked her to preview pictures and a few years later the Motion Picture Council of Brooklyn did likewise. Four years ago, the National Board of Review elected her a member of its general committee. She was also chairman of motion pictures for the Brooklyn Circle of Federated Alumnae. She was a frequent speaker for the CDVO, at Communion breakfasts, Girl Scout rallies, and elementary school graduations. She was president of the Parent-Teacher association of Brooklyn Technical High School, active in the service of Chaplains' Aid and helped direct the cultural and interracial movement in the school system. Surviving her are her husband Robert, a son Robert Jr., her mother, Mrs. Alice T. Kellam, a sister Mrs. Frank P. Briody, and a brother Albert J. Kellam.
